Almandine Garnet is formed when sedimentary rocks with a high aluminum content are subjected to intense heat and pressure. While Garnets can come in a variety of colors, Almandine (the most popular formation) is always a deep red or reddish-purple. Another unique characteristic of this stone is its Asterism—a star-shaped concentration of light on its surface that shows up best in sunlight.
